A couple had dream of having their own boat to sail once they were retired. It took them 14 years to realize this dream. The boat was built from aluminum with a cherry wood interior. It has everything they need, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Here's a look at how they did it.

ReplyDeleteNonsense. Someone following a dream and a passion. A waste of money would have been if they had thrown a load of cash at some ship yard to make it for them when they were capable of doing it themselves. In any event, the act of building it themselves was probably the best bit. They can look at that boat at any stage and take a vast amount of pride in the work they have done. No interest in boats myself, but happy for this couple who followed a passion and a plan to make it into a reality. Good for them.
ReplyDeleteIt is better long term to not paint aluminium boats. As paint wears off over time and so you are setting yourself up for regular maintainance in repainting every few years. The bottom needs anti fouling paint to stop growth etc, but above the waterline its best left as is. Awesome effort, great boat, enjoy :-) you deserve to enjoy the fruits of your labour. Green with envy is me...
